Cambridge Public Schools District
Cambridge, Massachusetts is a dynamic, diverse urban community with a strong commitment to investing in our public schools. Rich in racial, ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic diversity, the Cambridge Public Schools is committed to academic excellence and social justice, with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning experiences for all students.
Tony is the 5th grade and Amigos Upper School woodwinds itinerant teacher at 9 different schools throughout the city of Cambridge and has taken on a leadership role for the team. Instrumental music is taught to students twice a week for 45 minutes in areas ranging from music rooms to cafeterias to small conference rooms.
During his tenure in Cambridge, he has brought many innovative ideas to the instrumental team and has taken on a leadership role. The instrumental selection process has transitioned from a paper selection to a fully online form with spreadsheet calculations to place students in the correct instrument family to balance classes. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Tony created and activistly maintained a CPSD Travelin' Music Website. This website contained instrumental tutorials, music, lessons, and student showcases.
His students have been selected to perform at school and district assemblies; All-County Band; and All-East Massachusetts Honor Band; and have been featured on school and district webpages and mailings.
